Superannuation Age Requirement & Minimum Service Requirement:
Superannuation Age | – 58 years for superior service – 60 years for basic service |
Factors Determining Pension | – Net qualifying service (expressed in half years) – Minimum net qualifying service of 10 years (20 half years) – Full pension at 50% of average emoluments/pay last drawn for 30 years (60 half years) of net qualifying service – Proportionate pension for less than 30 years (60 half years) of net qualifying service |
Net & Gross Qualifying Service Requirements:
Net Qualifying Service | – Net qualifying service = Gross qualifying service less services not counting for qualifying service |
Gross Qualifying Service | – Includes all service whether permanent, officiating, temporary without break |
Services Not Counting & Service Calculation:
Services Not Counting | – Boy service (service before 18 years) – Extraordinary leave without medical certificate – Suspension period treated as punishment – Overstay of joining time not regularized |
Notes on Service Calculation | – Fraction of a year equal to three months and above treated as completed half year – Reinstated individuals count past service – Resignation entails forfeiture of past service |
Average Emoluments:
Average Emoluments | – Average of 10 months emoluments (Pay + Grade Pay) drawn prior to retirement |

Pension Calculation:
Pension Calculation | – Full pension: 50% of average emoluments/pay last drawn for full qualifying service – Proportionate pension: 50% of average emoluments/pay last drawn x No. of completed half years’ service / 60 for less than full qualifying service |
